Breach

When I started making this piece, I had a very quiet painting in mind. I wanted to make
something calm, soft and subtle. As the work progressed and the layers built up, something
much more dynamic and vibrant emerged. The sweep of blue ink is like a whale breaching
the surface of a choppy sea.

An original painting, finished in 2024. Acrylic, charcoal, ink and water-based emulsion on
canvas in a black and waxed, deep tray frame.
